Remarks: More than 4800 people have registered as users of PlutoF platform, about a third among them are from abroad. About 110 users log in every day. On average, users work for 21 minutes. Among foregin countries the largest usage is from USA (on average, 25 users per day) and United Kingdom also Sweden (on average, 3 users per day). Foregin scientists use PlutoF mainly for identifying DNA sequences and lodging databases. Estonian scientists, teachers, students, nature observers, and others use PlutoF platform to develop their own databases.

Statistics of use of the information system of geological collections covers only some of the web interfaces as yet. Also more than 95% of data stored in that information system is publicly accessible through interfaces which do not require registration of use. According to the statistics of use of the main public interface geokogud.info, during 2011-2012 more than 30 000 visits were recorded, around 50% of which were from Estonia. Use of the portal of fossil taxa the analogue of eBiodiversity focused on extinct taxa) has been monitored more closely since autumn 2013. Its average of unique vistis per day is over 50, about 70% of which are from abroad. Estimably around 20000 visits occur per year, that is some 160000 pageviews. The circle of registered users of the information system of geological collections has so far been composed of people working in partner institutions (37 users, that is 40% growth in 2013).

Estonian bio- and georepository

Use of the infrastructure is characterized not only by the statistics of databases, but also by scientists directly visiting the collections, by loans recorded, by scientific publications based on collections. In 2013 over 200 research fellows and doctoral students visited the scientific collections of NATARC network, about 25% of them were scientists from abroad. About 50 loans of preserved specimens were recorded, over 30% of these went abroad. Based on the collections over 60 high-level scientific articles (ETIS 1.1) were published in 2013, and multitude of other writings as well.
